I’ve been using FXReplay for a couple of months now, mostly just to practice my entries during slow market weeks. It’s solid for getting the timing right, but I feel like it’s a bit limited when I want to zoom out or test on higher timeframes. I’m wondering if anyone here has tried something else that offers more control over the replay speed or better customization options for backtesting?

Feels like everyone’s focused on perfecting backtests while ignoring the part where markets change their “personality” mid-cycle. Same deal in crypto — you build a strategy that works in sideways ETH action, then airdrop hype hits and it’s all liquidity spikes and fakeouts. Doesn’t matter how good your historical data is if you can’t adapt in real time. Testing helps, sure, but surviving live is where you really see who’s got a plan and who’s just backtest-flexing.
Yeah I ran into the same wall with FXReplay, especially when testing volume-based setups. I wanted something that felt more flexible without needing a full quant stack. I ended up checking out this breakdown of https://forextester.com/blog/fxreplay-alternatives, and it helped a ton. Some of the tools on that list offer deeper historical datasets and let you simulate trades at your own pace. Plus, you get more control over session filters and order execution logic.
